v. Psykoterapeut Patricia Bourke, Irland  The Body Remembers - Integrating Body and Mind for Trauma Recovery

This seminar is based on the work of Babette Rothschild (Kroppen husker og den nyligt udkomne The Body remembers Vol. 2) and will explore the theory of trauma, and tackle critical and key issues in recovering from trauma.  Specifically this seminar will:

- Provide participants with an opportunity to expand their knowledge and understanding in relation to trauma

- Explore and stress the importance of ensuring that stability is maintained as a core foundation when working with clients who have suffered trauma

- Help clinicians determine if it is relevant and safe to proceed with processing memory in order to support recovery from trauma

Participants will:

- Learn body-oriented interventions for increasing stability, improving quality of life, and integrating traumatic memory

- Be able to assess and distinguish clients who will benefit from processing trauma memories from those who will not

- Learn skills to support all clients

- Develop their ability to interpret and modulate the body’s nervous system (sensory and autonomic) with a view to supporting themselves and their clients to regulate arousal levels

- Explore how to adapt interventions e.g. mindfulness to support clients with PTSD

- Learn how to reduce and stop flashbacks and support clients in constructively managing nightmares

- Learn about and gain tools to protect themselves from vicarious trauma and compassion fatigue
